The objective of Cycorp's research into Knowledge Formation and Dialog is to provide subject-matter experts (SMEs) with tools to broadly extend specific domain knowledge by reasoning about the knowledge acquisition process.

In a feasability study in October of 2000, SMEs were able to enter approximately 25 facts per hour using Natural Language. By the summer of 2001, the SMEs were entering approximately 35 facts per hour. The number continues to increase today.
