A globally unique identifier (GUID) or universally unique identifier (UUID) is a 128-bit number that permanently identifies a data object in the KB.
- Global means that the GUID is the same across all Cyc instances.
- Unique means that the GUID refers to exactly one data object.
- Permanent means that the GUID never changes.
For example, bd5880f4-9c29-11b1-9dad-c379636f7270
is the GUID for #$Thing
.
